Adios Lanzarote....Bienvenida Race Season

What can I say? Currently I am very happy with how my winter training has gone so far. I can’t believe that it has now been 3 months since I left Denmark. Towards the back end of last year I made the decision to spend my winter in Lanzarote. It was a big move but a move which has now proved to be the best decision I have made training wise – it has really paid off, I have never had a better winter training period.

My body really benefits from the warm weather and relaxed environment in terms of faster recovery and I have adapted very well to training in the harsh and windy climate of Lanzarote. I have been consistent in all three disciplines through the winter and for me this is key. My former injuries are under control and I am training pain free. I now feel fit, confident and I am soon ready to race.

I now only have 2 days left in my second home, Club La Santa. I will be ending this winter training with two weeks training camp in Playitas, Fuerteventura with the rest of the Danish National Team and some age groupers. The 6th March I will be returning to Denmark for a short visit, 12 days, before I will fly to Australia to start my 2011 season. I am very excited about getting the 2011 season under way. My race schedule will be updated to my website over the next few days.

As many of you are aware I recently announced the addition of Sailfish and Nike onto my sponsor team for 2011. As is generally the case with new sponsors you receive new products and I can say that I have been one very lucky girl in the past weeks. Nikes first shipment arrived with a very cool chauffeur, who personally delivered two very generous sized sports bags filled with clothing to my apartment in Lanzarote – thanks Johnny :)

My new 2011 race bike has also arrived and in true LOOK style it did not disappoint. With a very cool integrated headset and adjustable stem the new 695 is definitely one of the most state of the art bikes out there. I am very much looking forward to putting it to the test in just under 7 weeks when the season starts.

Thanks everyone for your continued support. I hope you have all had a great winters training, those of you in Northern Europe I hope you have managed to stay injury free whilst training in the freezing conditions. I wish you all the best with you current season plans, stay healthy and race hard!!
